Me: That's right, you heard me.
You: Yes, I did hear you, but, what do you mean?
Me: Oh...*ahem*.....sorry. What I mean is that the first episode of the first volume of The Somewhat Adventures of Roland & Tom is going to be premiering soon......veeerrrry sooooon....
Me. All the rest is me:
What? I said I was going to post about me process? Yes, well, I sometimes always often change my mind sometimes.
So now 2, yes two, things have changed in my mind...and in reality......
One is that I'm going to take the plunge and start posting Roland comics from the Birthday Plans volume. The two is that I'm announcing it in this blog post and comics posts will happen on Twosdays, I mean Tuesdays.. The three......yes, I have changed my mind once again, even as I am typing.....the three is that I will post me process in the next post...or another.
I think it's more important to get things rollin' with Roland......
So, I've been working on Roland and Tom quite a bit, although not as much as I'd like. I'm about 28 pages in. How many pages will it be total? Maybe I should know the answer to this, but I don't. I know the story and have it written out, but when I draw the comic panels, I often rewrite the dialogue. It's rather like Roland and Tom start acting out the story and kind of take over, if that makes sense. So, sometimes things go differently and what I expected to be 1 page turns into 2...or 3.....
As I'm thinking about this, I'm estimating about.....hmmm.....50 pages? Maybe....
Once I have the entire comic book completed, I plan to start posting it as a web comic regularly. - probably once per week. Why wait until I'm completely finished? Because I do not trust myself...if I do not have the entire comic already ready already, I will most likely fail miserably at posting regularly as every good web comic creator should.
I think the next post will include some details about my process for Roland and Tom...unless I forget, which is very possible, hehe....
Inktober is a drawing challenge set up by the amazing artist, Jake Parker.
Click the button to learn how to participate.
I try to draw as often as I can, but often have trouble finding the time. Really, I have to MAKE time to draw, and I'm sure this is the case for many other artists. Drawing challenges like this really motivate me to make that time to sketch out something more regularly and challenge me to try new compositions, techniques, etc. Posting drawings online also creates some accountability that helps nudge me to keep at it as much as possible.
This challenge is particularly fun and I truly appreciate Mr. Jake Parker for setting it up and keeping the tradition alive!
What is going on with Morbidezza?
This story is still happening, but I needed to take a break for the summer.
Where have you been?
Teaching art camps over the summer, plus doing other summer activities.
These required too much of my attention and I could not concentrate on Morbidezza.
Who are Roland and Tom???
They are characters I made up several years ago. I wrote one whole story and parts of others. I plan to publish these stories (shorter kid comics) as The Somewhat Adventures of Roland and Tom, one at a time. My summer "break" project was resurrecting the first story, Birthday Plans.
I've been wrapping up my drawing classes and prepping a book file for one of them (which, incidentally, took for-ev-er!); but....I think I'll have more time again to work on Morbidezza.
I've actually been working on it a bit, but it's super secret stuff I cannot show or I'll ruin the fun of experiencing the story!
I've also been learning some new techniques in Photoshop which will come in handy.
I'm planning to hunker down now and really start whipping out some work......hopefully, hehe!
